It will be the last stage, the Pescara-L'Aquila scheduled for Sunday, that will decide the Giro d'Italia Women 2024: On Saturday, in the 120-kilometer queen stage com departure from Lanciano and arrival on the Blockhaus summit, Australian Neve Bradbury (Canyon-SRAM Racing) è arrived at the finish line with her arms in the air, while Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek), thanks to her third-place stage finish, retained the pink jersey as leader of the general classification, albeit with only one second ahead of Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx-Protime).
These are the words of Neve Bradbury to the official Giro Women channels, on the sidelines of the stage win: "I am exhausted but happy,” she said, “I don’t think I have pushed so hard in my life. When I attacked I was thinking mainly about the stage win but now the situation is also getting interesting in terms of the pink jersey. Tomorrow I will try; I don’t want to set myself limits".
Elisa Longo Borghini will therefore have to watch out for the assault of Kopecky and Bradbury herself, who in the general classification è third at 1'12" gap. Also among the top 10 in the standings is another Italian athlete, Gaia Realini, teammate of the current pink jersey and 3'19" distant.
As for the other jerseys, the red jersey of leader of the points classification è worn by Lotte Kopecky, the blue one of best climber by Justine Ghekiere (AG Insurance-Soudal Team, the white one of best young rider è instead prerogative of Neve Bradbury.
