A dream come true, thanks to talent and also lucidness.

Carlos Alcaraz is moved at the end of Wimbledon 2024 after the final won in just three sets against Novak Djokovic. Almost easy 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) centered by the Spaniard, who nevertheless wanted to reserve words of high praise for his opponent at the end of the match. And he also explained how he managed to straighten out the third and decisive set, when it could have slipped out of his hands.

"For me è a dream – are the very first words of Alcaraz after winning the final at Wimbledon -. When I was 11 years old they interviewed me and I said that my dream was to win Wimbledon. Now I am living what I so longed for, and I want to continue doing it. The feeling of playing on this beautiful court è wonderful. As I have already had occasion to say, here is the most beautiful tournament in the world, the most beautiful court and the most beautiful trophy".

Alcaraz then dwells on the feelings he had when his first three match points were thwarted by Djokovic’s resilience. "Even though I was two points away from winning, the end of the match still felt so far away. Nole has crazy strength when it è time to fight, and I knew he would have his chances. He was left there ì and for me è it was difficult. I tried to keep calm and optimistic. At that point we went to the tie-break, where I tried to put forward my best tennis".

" I am glad I was able to find the right solutions to get by in the decisive moments. Under the circumstances, I think I ended the day very well. And for me to know that I won Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year è a giant source of pride and an honor. Also because ité puts me on the same table as great champions, just like Djokovic. And I still don’t feel like a champion like they are", è Alcaraz’s conclusion that sends the London audience into raptures.
