Uruguay drew in the last minute and then beat Canada 4-3 on penalty kicks to take third place in the Copa America, usually the South American equivalent of the European Championships but which this year also saw the nations of Hundred and North America participate.
In the final played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, the South Americans took the lead at 8'8' through Rodrigo Bentancur. The Canadians tied the game at 22' with Ismael Koné and took the lead at 80' with Jonathan David.
Saving the Celeste it was Luis Suarez who did it in 92' fixing the result of regulation time at 2-2. On penalty kicks for the Canadians missed Koné the third and Davies the fifth, while the Uruguayans scored all four.
Tonight, at 2 a.m. Italian time, the final for the title between Argentina and Colombia will be played at the’Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
