Nadal has won the US Open four times

.

One step at a time. Nadal is trying, with determination, to put all the physical problems behind him and play tennis continuously and with quality. His desire to return to important levels è is evident. Despite the 38 years on his shoulders, the Majorcan feels he can still be a major player on the court.

So much so that it looks like his name will be on the US Open men’s draw. In the preliminary list of tennis players who will participate in the season's last Slam, the Spaniard&#39s name also appears. This does not mean that he will definitely play the U.S. Open (he was on the preliminary list for Wimbledon as well) but, for sure, that he è intends to be there.

Good news for Nadal but also for all tennis fans. Two years after his last appearance in New York, the former world No. 1 could relive the thrill of playing the US Open, a tournament that, in his career, he has won four times: 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019. The last time, beating Medvedev (five sets) in the final.

To know, with certainty, whether Nadal will be in New York will have to wait until the end of the upcoming Olympics. Nadal has stated, several times, that he lives day by day, without looking too much into the future. Undoubtedly, should he be there in New York, it would be something special. Clearly, he will playà thanks to the "protected" ranking, so with the possibilityà to meet very strong players already in the first round but this, at the moment, is not è important. It matters that Nadal is closer to coming back to play the US Open.
