Ferrari, Carlos Sainz optimistic: “I hope to win again”
Carlos Sainz does not hide ambition for the second part of 2024
During an interview given to the microphones of "RacingNews365", Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz è expressed himself in no uncertain terms in view of the second part of the 2024 season, which will also be his last interlude with the Maranello team, as from 2025 Lewis Hamilton will take his place in "red".
"I hope I can aim for more wins and podiums in this second half of the season, I think in the end that has to be the goal this year. I will be the one to try to get them as I have done in the last three years. As for the championship, we are aware that è a very difficult task given the level of Red Bull, Max Verstappen and McLaren" began the Spanish driver.
"Whenever there's been an opportunity, we have taken it, like in Melbourne. I was very proud, not so much because of the victory itself, but because of the situation I was in at the beginning of the year. After the news that I was not going to continue in Ferrari and missing a race, I bounced right back with a win in Australia. It was a very special moment in my career, which made me feel very proud. It was probably è one of the happiest moments of my life" added the former McLaren driver.
While waiting to return to the track at the Hungaroring, Carlos Sainz has not yet cleared his doubts about his future. The Spanish driver, in fact, would have on his plate proposals from second-tier teams such as Williams and Alpine. The number 55, however, has è taken more time to decide in the hope that possibilities will open up in Mercedes or Red Bull, where Sergio Perez's stay, despite the renewal, would be far from a foregone conclusion.
