Benedetta Pilato è born on January 18, 2005 in Taranto. È 5’7″ tall and 67 kg. È breaststroke specialist and competes for the Fiamme Oro Sports Group. È coached by Antonio Satta. Her first club è was Mediterraneo Sport, her first coach Vito D’Onghia. She likes music and è a big fan of Jovanotti.
At 14 she achieved her first world podium with silver in the 50 breaststroke, at 15 the Olympic qualification with a lot of Italian record, becoming the first Apulian swimmer in history to have conquered the five-circle appointment.
È European champion in Budapest in 2021 on the 50 after setting the world record in 29”30 in the semifinals, also in the Hungarian capital she will be world champion on the 100 in 2022.
At the Winter Absolute Championships in Riccione she took the pass for Paris 2024: the goal will be to redeem Tokyo 2020, where she was disqualified for an irregular leg in the semifinal of the 100 breaststroke in her, so far, only Olympic participation.
