Italy’s Summer Tour 2024 ends with a victory. The team led by Gonzalo Quesada overcame Japan in Sapporo with a result of 42-14 in the’last Test Match of the 2023/24 season.

“A very positive first half and a second in which despite little possession we were good at taking advantage of all the opportunities, especially for the conditions in which we arrived at this match with training in Tokyo with so much heat. Given all the travel and logistics, this è was an important tour for us: è it was another step forward as a group. From the outside you only see the games, but from the inside we saw all the difficulties we had to accept. Seeing the players give everything like this in a very difficult second half makes me proud, with great defense”.

“Discipline è was really an issue and I would like to review some of the free kicks. There are però some positive signs. We played for 30 minutes with one player less against one of the most athletically strong teams in the world, and we won by showing character”.

“After this game the overall balance of the tour è very positive. We know the truth è about what è happened on this tour. I don’t know how many of the ‘top’ teams in the world would have agreed to do what we did: we approached this tour with all the energy we could muster. We won 2 games and against Samoa we lost in really difficult conditions where some things did not work well. Everything that depended on us we did well, and this week shows that. Despite the fatigue the guys played a great game against a tough team to play against. Against Samoa we were not perfect, this time we were able to win”

“My job does not end today: I have to talk to the franchises so that the boys can rest in the best way. I will then have a way to compare with the other clubs abroad where the players” concluded Quesada.
