Mattia Viti returns to Empoli'Empoli

An old acquaintance to reinforce the defense ahead of next season: with a note published on its official channels, Empoli has indeed made official the return to the Azzurri of Mattia Viti, a 2002 class defender with experience in the National Under-21 team. Viti arrives on loan from Nice: the Tuscan club will be able to exercise the right of redemption next season.

The Côte d’Azur club had bought Mattia Viti right from Empoli in the summer of 2022: the Tuscans got 15 million euros. Few appearances in the Rossoneri for the defender, closed by Dante and Todibo in the same role: only 9 appearances in Ligue 1 (with one goal) and 3, without goals, in the Champions League.

Last year Nice sent him out on loan for a first time, to Sassuolo, where Viti played 15 games, scoring his first and so far only goal in Serie A on the very last day, in the 1-1 draw against Lazio on May 26. Closed the season with the relegation of the neroverde club, Viti returned to Nice, però briefly.

Empoli, in search of a defender, in fact came forward again to obtain the performance of the class of 2002, receiving a positive response from Nice: thus came, on Monday, the news of the return to the Azzurri of the footballer born in Borgo San Lorenzo, who will therefore be immediately available to the new coach Roberto D'Aversa.
