Enthusiasm, excitement, pride. Italia Team athletes follow each other through our country’s airports with a common destination: the Olympic Games. Today will be another day of departures, keeping in mind an interesting fact: of the 403 Azzurri summoned or qualified, as many as 219 (so more than half) including Jannik Sinner will be making their debut at five circles.

From Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, boxers Salvatore Cavallaro (80 kg), Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine (92 kg), Diego Lenzi (+92 kg), Giordana Sorrentino (50 kg), Sirine Chaarabi (54 kg), Irma Testa (57 kg), Alessia Mesiano (60 kg) and Angela Carini (66 kg); and shooters Federico Nilo Maldini and Paolo Monna (10-meter pistol) will take off for Paris; tennis player Lucia Bronzetti; tennis players Giorgia Piccolin and Debora Vivarelli; and the men’s national volleyball team composed of Fabio Balaso, Mattia Bottolo, Alessandro Alberto Bovolenta, Gianluca Galassi, Simone Giannelli, Daniele Lavia, Alessandro Michieletto, Luca Porro, Yuri Romanò, Roberto Russo, Giovanni Sanguinetti and Riccardo Sbertoli.

Instead, Giovanni Toti (badminton); Angela Andreoli, Alice D'Amato, Manila Esposito, Elisa Iorio, Giorgia Villa (artistic gymnastics); and cyclists Filippo Ganna (road and track), Alberto Bettiol, Elisa Longo Borghini (road), Simone Avondetto, Luca Braidot, Martina Berta and Chiara Teocchi (mountain bike) will depart from Milan Linate; shooters Edoardo Bonazzi, Danilo Dennis Sollazzo (10-meter rifle) and Barbara Gambaro (3-position 50-meter rifle); and the women’s national volleyball team consisting of Ekaterina Antropova, Caterina Bosetti, Carlotta Cambi, Anna Danesi, Monica De Gennaro, Loveth Omoruyi, Paola Egonu, Sarah Fahr, Gaia Giovannini, Marina Lubian, Alessia Orro and Myriam Sylla.

Also expected in Paris today are tennis players Jannik Sinner, Simone Bolelli, Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani, and students from the Olympic Management Course ‘Giulio Onesti’ activated by the CONI’Alta Scuola di Specializzazione Olimpica.
