Paris Olympics: Azzurri to medal
Born in Monza on July 26, 1997, Yuri Romanò began his sports career in soccer, but at the suggestion of his mother Morena, he decided to try the path of volleyball, where he made his way through the minor leagues, conquering each and every accolade with sweat, effort and always being in the right place at the right time.
His adventure began in 2012 in the youth ranks of New Team Bollate, where he debuted a first team in the 2014-2015 season. After a good three seasons, comes the leap in category to the A2 series, where he wears the jackets of Polentino, Olimpia Bergamo and Emma Villas. In 2021 comes his Superleague debut with Powevolley Milano, and in the following season with the Piacenza jersey he won his first Coppa Italia.
In 2019 came his first call-up to the senior national team. With the Azzurri jersey, among other achievements, stand out the gold at the European Championship in 2021 and the triumph at the World Championship in 2022. The Azzurri opposite player's sporting dream is to make his Olympic debut in Paris 2024 where, with his left-handed trajectories, he will try to take Italy to the podium.
Off the field, Romanò è enrolled at the Catholic University of Piacenza, è a big Inter Milan fan, adores his dog Charlie and è a big fan of Formula 1 and video games. In life, he wants to build a family with his partner Marta, who è is expecting a baby girl.
