Jasmine Paolini: coach aims high for Olympics
Jasmine Paolini: the words of her coach
Jasmine Paolini’s coach Renzo Furlan, host of 'TennisMania' broadcast on OA Sport’s Youtube channel, spoke about his pupil’s wonderful climb as well as her Olympic ambitions. "After the Chicago tournament in 2021,” he began, “I told her, ‘We have to change the way of thinking. You and I in the end are a coach and an athlete who sì, they always have to touch what they do, assimilate it and consolidate it and then take the next step, but we start thinking instead that there are no limits. So I feel like it started at that time the’work that then brought these results, which she then achieves because’she has an extraordinary talent, there’è no shadow of doubt".
"We are in front of a girl who has in my opinion more talent than I had, I have to be honest,” he added. Technical, physical, although she is tiny è she is an extremely explosive and elastic girl, with a remarkable muscle fiber, and I think also mentally she has that ability to take the chance that I perhaps did not have. Maybe I was a little bit’ hesitant. I just try to bring out the best in her, then è nice to be amazed at where you get".
On Paolini’s chances at the Paris Games: "Definitely she will have her chances, è a very heartfelt appointment. I believe she has in the ropes the possibility of going to medal. Then there are circumstances, you have to see. Every match has its own story. È a difficult tournament anyway, forò è in a location that she knows very well, where she won important matches a month ago, and so I hope she can do very well. However she certainly has in the ropes to do much but much better than me at the Olympics".
"È obviously if you go and analyze so many little details one canò say, ‘Ok if in that break ball you push maybe you put her under pressure, you go 5-5, she canò change and you write another story’. I però always have to look at the big picture and in the end you could lose to Madison Keys in the round of 16, becauseé the American in the third was mounted over Jasmine, and you could lose in the semifinals to Donna Vekic in two sets, while in the end we are talking about a final. È destiny, this was Krejcikova’s tournament, who by the way has a crazy record becauseé she in the final never loses" commented Furlan on the Wimbledon final.
