The edition that will follow Milan-Cortina 2026 will be hosted by the French Alps, which had applied a year ago and was the only consortium in the running. Today their program è was approved by the IOC. There were 84 votes in favor, 4 against and 7 abstentions.

The allocation è però subject to certain conditions and reservations, as the French state, after the dissolution of the Assembly and new legislative elections, has not yet sent a signed financial guarantee letter. The IOC requires this to be done by Oct. 1° 2024.

Instead, the 2034 Games were awarded to the U.S.-based Salt Lake City, Utah, also the only candidate, which will thus return to host a white Olympics after the 2002 one. 83 votes in favor, 6 against, 6 abstained.
