A heartfelt apology to his wife after the unfortunate incident.

Gianmarco Tamberi è was one of the great protagonists of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he però also made himself known for a very painful mishap especially on an emotional level. The flag-bearer of Italy at the Games in fact lost his wedding ring, which fell into the Seine River during the boat parade with the other Italian athletes. A decidedly unfortunate episode, in the aftermath of which came a public apology addressed to his wife Chiara Bontempi.

"I am sorry my love, I am so sorry – Tamberi wrote on social media, addressing però directly to his wife -. Too much water, too many kg lost in the last few months or maybe the irrepressible enthusiasm of what we were doing. Probably all three, the fact remains that I'heard her slip out, saw her fly…. followed her with my eyes until I saw her bounce back into the boat".

Tamberi è then immediately became aware of what was taking place, failing, however, to avoid it. He then recounted, with some poetry, the next moments: "A jingle of hope…. But the bounce unfortunately was in the wrong direction, and floating more than a thousand times in the air I saw her dive into the water as if that was the only place she wanted to be.
A few moments that lasted an infinità. But if it had to happen, if I had to lose this faith, I could not imagine a better place. It will remain forever in the riverbed of the city of love, flown away as I tried to carry the Italian tricolor as high as possible during the opening ceremony of the most important sporting event in the world. If I had to invent an excuse, I would never have been able to be soì imaginative".

Hence Tamberi’s curious proposal to his wife: "I think there may be a huge poetic side behind yesterday’s misdeed and if you want we’ll throw yours into that river too soì that they’ll be together forever and we’ll have one more excuseì to, as you’ve always asked me, renew our vows and get married again. I love you my love! May it be a good omen to come home with even more gold!!!".

Decidedly less poetic and more stringent had been the hot reaction of Chiara Bontempi, who after the "fattaccio" had limited herself to posting on Instagram Stories some screenshots accompanied by a series of captions in which she does not address Tamberi directly, but speaks of him in the third person: "Ma davvero ha perso la fede? But è true of the faith è? Tell me he has not è true that he has lost faith".
