Clamorous in Formula 1, George Russell disqualified. Lewis Hamilton wins
Incredible twist after the Belgian Grand Prix: the winner of the race, Mercedes driver George Russell è was disqualified. The British driver è was sanctioned because his car è was found to be 1.5 kg under the minimum weight of 798 kg without gasoline: Russell è was thus disqualified for violating article 4.1 of the regulations.
A resounding mockery for the Englishman, who returned to victory after the Austrian Grand Prix. Mercedes still won the race: Lewis Hamilton, who came in second, è was è declared the winner of Spa, ahead of Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). For Hamilton è it was the second win in three GPs. Max Verstappen è instead climbed to fourth place.
"After the race, the No. 63 car è was weighed and è was found to be 798.0 kg, which è is the minimum weight required by Article 4.1 of the Technical Regulations. Subsequently, fuel è was unloaded from the car and 2.8 liters were removed. The car had not been completely unloaded according to the unloading procedure presented by the team in their compliance documents. The car è was weighed again on Fia’s internal and external scales and the weight è was found to be 796.5 kg", had been the note of technical delegate Jo Bauer.
"The calibration of the external and internal scales è was confirmed and witnessed by the competitor. Since this is 1.5 kg below the minimum weight required in Article 4.1 that must be observed at all times during the competition, I refer this matter to the stewards for their consideration".
Russell è was thus disqualified. "During the meeting, the team representative confirmed that the measurement è was correct and that all required procedures were performed correctly. The team also acknowledged that there were no extenuating circumstances and that it was è a genuine error on the part of the team. The Stewards rule that Article 4.1 of the FIA Formula 1 Technical Regulations è has been violated and therefore the standard penalty for such an infraction" should be applied.
