Paris 2024 Olympics, Lorenzo Musetti tames Taylor Fritz and flies into the quarterfinals
In the round of 16 of the Olympic men’s singles on the courts of Roland Garros, Lorenzo Musetti, world number 16, beat the U.S.’s Taylor Fritz, number 12, with a score of 6-4 7-5 in one’hour and 24 minutes of play.

In the second set no break point until 5-5 but Musetti in the 10th game recovered from 0-30. In the next game è he got himself a break point and converted it thanks to a backhand volley missed by Fritz. Musetti went to serve for the match and despite a double fault hit his quarterfinal goal.
At the Olympic Games, since tennis è returned to the five-circle program, only Paolo Cané in Seoul 1988 and Renzo Furlan in Atlanta 1996 had succeeded in men’s singles for Italy. Lorenzpo’s next opponent will be the winner between Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Australia’s Alexei Popyrin.
