Paris 2024 Olympics: rejoices also blue judo, gold for Alice Bellandi
È it was a historic day for the city of Brescia, but especially for the town of Roncadelle. After the Olympic triumph of Giovanni De Gennaro in canoe kayak slalom è came also that of Alice Bellandi, also a native of Leonessa l’Italia and resident of Roncadelle, in judo category -78 kg.
25 years old, bronze medalist in 2023 and silver medalist this year in the last two editions of the World Championships, Alice did not betray expectations and in the final she prevailed in a hard-fought match against Israeli Inbar Lanir, who lost by the third shido after suffering a waza-ari from the Italian.
Bronze medals went to Portugal’s Patricia Sampaio and China’s Zhenzhao Ma. Bellandi, who arrived in Paris as world number one, had gotten the better of Sampaio in the semifinals by winning the challenge that gave her the title.
È the first Italian medal in judo in these Olympics, the fifteenth overall, the fifth gold and the second five-ring title in women’s judo after Giulia Quintavalle’s in the 57 kg in Beijing 2008.
