Enea Bastianini è the winner of the Silverstone Sprint Race, the short race of the weekend that will culminate with the British Grand Prix on Sunday. The official Ducati rider è imposed himself convincingly at the final finish line, beating after ten intense laps Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac) and Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia). It's the first seasonal success for Bastianini, who had not won since the 2023 Malaysian GP.
The Sprint Race è was marked by a bad crash on the first lap involving Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46) and Franco Morbidelli (Ducati Pramac), and by the crashes of Pecco Bagnaia (official Ducati) on the fourth lap and Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini) in the final. The reigning world champion and his next teammate both slipped while trying to get close to podium positions.
For Bastianini are 12 points moreù in the standings, Martin adds 9, Espargaró 7. Also closing in the points zone are Brad Binder (KTM), Pedro Acosta (GasGas), Alex Marquez (Ducati Gresini), Jack Miller (KTM), Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati VR46).
In the overall standings Pecco Bagnaia remains ahead of everyone with 222 points, but Jorge Martin è very close, just one length away, with 221. It follows just Bastianini, who takes advantage of Marquez’s fall to overtake him in the standings by a single point (167 the points of 'Beast', 166 those of the Catalan).
