The restyling at Olimpia Milano continues. The Milanese club announced that it has reached an agreement with David McCormack, a 2.08-cm center, born July 2, 1999 in New York, from Galatasaray Istanbul.
Born in New York but raised in Norfolk, Virginia, McCormack attended Norfolk Academy and then Oak Hill Academy also in Virginia. In his senior year, Oak Hill closed 30-4 by winning the state title. In 2018 è he arrived at the University of Kansas where he played 132 games in four years with 96 appearances in the quintet. In his third year, he scored 13.4 points per contest as well as captured 6.1 rebounds, being included in the second All-Big 12 quintet and also winning the award as the most advanced player in the entire conference.
In his fourth year he scored 10.6 points with 7.0 rebounds captured on average, winning the NCAA title with Kansas. He scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the semifinal game against Villanova; he scored 15 points and captured 10 rebounds in the final game won against North Carolina. That same season he led the Big 12 conference in offensive rebounds and è was third-quintet All-Big 12.
In the 2022/23 season, he played for Besiktas (9.1 points and 7.4 rebounds average, 56.3% from the field); in 2023/24 è he was first at Darussafaka and then at Galatasaray (14.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, 60.1% from the field in the Turkish league; 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in BCL). In the six games of the 2022 NCAA Tournament he scored 13.1 points per contest and è was included in the ideal quintet of the competition. Before devoting himself only to basketball, he played high school football and practiced weight throw and discus. He played in the 2018 McDonald’s All-America Game, the competition reserved for the best high schoolers.
