Paris 2024 Olympics: Marcell Jacobs and Chituru Ali in semifinals in the 100m
Chituru Ali and Marcell Jacobs's adventure at the Paris 2024 Olympics is off to a good start. The two Italian sprinters, in fact, both finished in second place in their respective heats by pulling out the pass for the semifinals of the 100m.
The Como native finished the event in 10"12 behind Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala who triumphed in 10"08. In third place was Germany’s Joshua Hartmann in 10"16. The reigning Olympic champion, however, achieved a time of 10"05 placing behind Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi who crossed the finish line in 10"02. Completing the podium was Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu in 10"06.
"I don't come out of this test very convinced, but è morning and it's okay. It took me a while to get into gear at the start. Now head to the semifinals: here you have to go strong, there are no excuses" these were Chituru Ali’s hot statements to the microphones of "Rai".
"I did not like myself at all, the feelings were not very good. I stayed heavy in the first part of the race, I could not run as I wanted. Today's goal was to qualify for tomorrow. Tomorrow è another day and we will try to fix the last things. When you qualify, it is always good, so the important thing was to detach the pass for the next round" these, instead, are the words of Marcell Jacobs.
