Marcell Jacobs, misadventure on the starting blocks

Despite qualifying for the semifinals of the 100 meters in Paris 2024, Marcell Jacobs, Olympic gold medalist in the same discipline in Tokyo 2020, è seemed far from satisfied already at the end of the test itself (closed with a time of 10"05), a feeling confirmed to the official channels of the Italian Athletics Federation.

"It was important to save energy as much as possible – he commented – thinking about the semifinals that will be difficult with so many pretenders. I made a few mistakes at the start, which did not allow me to find the rhythm I wanted, and I had to work harder than expected in the second part".

Jacobs himself then revealed a backstory in the immediate pre-start, which may have affected his performance: "On the blocks I also had the sting of an insect, on the outer scapula" told the Gold Flames sprinter, who is aiming this year for what would be a legendary individual encore at Five Circles.

"What grade can I give myself? A sufficiency, a 6, but tomorrow you have to run much harder" he then concluded Jacobs, who is not è the only Italian to qualify for the semifinals of the queen competition of athletics. With him, in fact, Chituru Ali also passed the round, with a time of 10"12.
