Paris 2024 Olympics, how is Gianmarco Tamberi: good news for the blue jumper
Gianmarco Tamberi is flying to Paris despite an illness in recent days. The Italian athlete on Instagram on Sunday evening had disclosed that he had a probable kidney stone and a strong fever, which put his presence for the high jump competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics in very strong doubt. The world and Olympic champion, according to adnkronos reports, has decided in any case to tighten his schedule and leave for Paris.
Tamberi remains in very high doubt and his condition will be monitored in the coming days. The high jump finals è scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10, but already on Wednesday the jumper will have to be on the track for the qualifiers.
"I was supposed to leave today for Paris and start my path to this big dream and instead I was advised to postpone the flight until tomorrow, hoping that, with some rest, this nightmare will end", Tamberi had written on Instagram last Sunday.
"I just have to wait and pray…. I don’t deserve this, I did everything for this Olympics, everything. I really don’t deserve it. Only one thing is certain, I don't know how I will get there, but I will be there on that platform and I will give my soul until the last jump, whatever my condition will be. I swear it to you but even before that I swear it to myself!".
