New world record for Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone
After Armand Duplantis's 6.25 in the men's pole vault, track and field experiences another record-breaking evening in Paris 2024, with the impressive 50"'37 recorded by American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone in the final, which she dominated, of the 400-meter hurdles.
The race saw compatriot Anna Cockrell win silver with 51"87 and Dutch Femke Bol take bronze with 52"15.
For McLaughlin-Levrone è the sixth world record in the specialty: she had first broken it in Eugene, running the distance and clearing the hurdles in 51"90, and then clocked 51"46 on Aug. 4, 2021 in Tokyo (also theì at the Games), 51"41 on June 25, 2022, 50"68 on July 22, 2022, and 50"65 at the Eugene Trials last June 30, before today&s record.
