Simone Alessio, a 24-year-old born in Livorno but raised in Sellia Marina, Catanzaro province, won the bronze medal in taekwondo 80 kg category of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Italian, after being forced to the repechages and passing them, won one of the two finals for the lowest step of the podium by beating the U.S. C.J. Nickolas 2-0.
Alessio won two world golds in 2019 in Manchester in 74 kg and in 2023 in Baku in 80 kg, where he also won a European title in Manchester in 2022. Now the Olympic medal.
Italy è reached 34 medals, 11 gold, 11 silver and 12 bronze, in this edition of the Games.
