Sky Sports, soccer’s big show begins with more matches, more champions, more challenges between the biggies

Moreù matches, moreù champions, moreù direct clashes between the Italian and European big names and the centrality of a 360-degree storytelling, always in the heart of the’event, live seven days a week. È the great spectacle of Sky Football: in the House of Sport, the new 2024-2025 season kicks off from August 16, with 11 months non-stop, more than 1,900 matches and more than 4,000 hours of live coverage, including analysis and in-depth studies. On Sky and streaming on NOW, the challenges of the domestic and international leagues are about to start again, with Serie A Enilive kicking off on Saturday, August 17 – three out of ten matches per day placed in new evening slots, the return of the big matches with at least 30 of the best 76 league games including four direct clashes between the biggies – the NOW Serie C (from 23/08) and the big international leagues in exclusive English Premier League (from 16/08) and German Bundesliga (from 23/08, with the German Cup and Super Cup scheduled on 16/08 and 17/08 respectively).

All this while waiting for the big European nights, starting with the new UEFA Champions League, which from next September 17 kicks off with a new format and for the first time with five Italians on the field, after the preliminary play-offs scheduled on Sky on August 20/21 and 27/28. As many as 185 of the 203 matches in Europe’s top competition will be exclusively broadcast on Sky and streamed only on NOW for each season until 2027, and thanks to Diretta Gol all UEFA Europa League (from 25/09) and UEFA Conference League (from 3/10) matches will also be exclusively broadcast. Quantityà and qualityà of the storytelling, combined with a technology and a definition of vision always at the forefront, will be the constant elements of a great editorial coverage, already started with Sky Sport’s Summer Football: from the chronicles from the training camps, passing through the’beginning of the season, it continues nonstop – also with news of purchases and disposals thanks to Calciomercato – L’Originale – to inform day after day all the fans with the continuous flow of Sky Sport 24, but also on the site skysport.It and on Sky Sport’s official social accounts. Not forgetting the great noveltyà Sky Sport Insider, the “reading room" of the House of Sport, the new in-depth editorial space with the most prestigious signatures and champions of the Sky Sport team, and the daily newsletter Spoiler. Waiting for the whistle to blow for the start of the season, on Wednesday, August 14, the UEFA Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Atalanta will be staged exclusively. The first of a series of major appointments that will be able to count on rich and extensive coverage, which is not limited to the matches, but also embraces the week of updates from the training camps, live on Sky Sport 24: coming live studios every day of the week, news, commentaries, rumors of the pre and post-match of all Serie A matches, which will have an increasing visibility over the weekends, with an’ideal long relay from Friday’s advance to Monday’s post-match. And again, correspondents on all fields, Skylights of every match, increasingly detailed videoanalysis thanks to Sky Sport Tech. A studio always open and always live to follow all the soccer of the weekend and beyond: new appointments arrive on Friday evenings, Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings, adding to the historic in-depth columns such as L’Originale,every Saturday night, and Il Club
(enriched by a new preview on Sunday at 8 p.m. and in the postgame at 6 p.m.), up to the trademark of the unfailing Original Productions of Sky Sport.

All this with a dream team that will tell the entire season step by step, the Sky Sport commentary team, the strongest ever, with many confirmations and five new “summoned”: the great return to Sky Sport of one of the most “experienced, interesting, pungent commentators on the TV scene, Zvonimir Boban, the arrivals of two of the best “second voices” of football commentary, Riccardo Montolivo and Massimo Gobbi, and the debut in Italy of the talented Blerimim Dzemaili. Also arriving for the first time on TV on Sky Sport is the former Juventus striker, European champion in 1996, Michele Padovano, who will also be the protagonist of a new autobiographical documentary on his sporting history and the dramatic human story of the judicial ordeal of which he è was a victim, before his complete acquittal after 17 years. New entry also in the large team of Sky Sports commentators: Stefano Borghi arrives. Among the talents, the authoritative commentaries of Alessandro Del Piero, Beppe Bergomi, Esteban Cambiasso, Fabio Capello, Alessandro Costacurta, Paolo Di Canio, Luca Marchegiani, Giancarlo Marocchi, Lorenzo Minotti, Aldo Serena and Nando Orsi also return.

At the center of the story are Sky Sport’s editorial staff and the most popular columnists among subscribers, such as the “first signature” of the Champions League studio Paolo Condò, Marco Bucciantini and Gianfranco Teotino. And again, the top of technology and viewing quality, also thanks to the Sky Sport 4K channel, entirely dedicated to the world of soccer and sports in 4K HDR for SkyQ satellite customers, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, as well as
to augmented reality, to allow the viewer to participate in the sports event in 360 degrees and to enrich the editorial narrative in the studios. Also always available are Sky Sport Plus, to access match centers, results and standings, Split Screen (for Sky Q satellite customers) to follow two live events simultaneously on the same screen and always be at the center of the action, and the Sky Go APP.

È already time to take the field for the European championships. There is great anticipation for Serie A Enilive, which from next August 17 returns to Sky and streaming on NOW for the 2024/2025 season with three co-exclusive matches out of ten per day for a total of 114 matches. There will be three evening dates of great Italian soccer – Saturday at 8:45 p.m., the novelty of Sunday at 6 p.m. and Monday at 8 p.m.45 – in a championship that will guarantee even more spectacle on Sky and NOW thanks to the return of the big matches, with at least 30 of the best 76 matches of the championship including four direct clashes between the bigs, all also available in 4K: Juventus-Roma (Day 3), Inter-Juventus (Day 9), Juventus-Torino (Day 12) and Milan-Inter (Day 23). And thanks to the highlights of all 380 matches, Sky Sport will also offer the highlights of all matches, with the edited and detailed images of the Skylights, mini movies with the best of the match in about three minutes, commentary by Sky commentators and the touch of Sky Sport Tech. Sky Sport, with its correspondents, will be on all Serie A pitches, each match enjoying extensive pre-match and post-match coverage. And in addition, all 10 matches of each Serie A round will be visible in bars, hotels and other public places, with Sky Business subscription, always with the expertise and quality of the commentary of the Sky Sport team. Instead, Serie C NOW kicks off on August 23 with all 1,143 regular season matches, including playoffs and Super Cup and Coppa Italia matches (from the round of 16). Extensive coverage also thanks to studies, in-depth reports and highlights of matches from the three rounds of the tournament.

Also back is the English Premier League, a major Sky exclusive until 2028: from August 16, up to 7 matches per round on Sky, including Friday nights and Monday nights. And again, the great challenges of Germany: the Bundesliga exclusively, from August 23, which will see up to 5 matches per round on the field, the Zweite Liga – the German Serie B starting on August 2 -, the German Cup – DFB-Pokal kicking off on August 16, as well as the German Cup and Super Cup on August 16 and 17/08 respectively. Premier League and Bundesliga will enjoy extensive pre- and post-match and dedicated columns throughout the week.

Great anticipation for the European nights, with 8 Italian teams starring in the upcoming season. As many as 527 total matches for the three continental competitions, with the spotlight on the newUEFA Champions League, ready for a
momentous change starting September 17, when the new format officially debuts, with even more matches and more clashes between the biggies already in the first phase and, for the first time in history, five Italians on the field: Inter, Milan, Juventus, Atalanta and Bologna. Sky and NOW will exclusively broadcast 185 of the 203 matches of the 2024/2025 season, from the play-off preliminaries in August, on 20/21 and 27/28, to the first matches of the new single classification until the final in Munich on May 31, 2025. Format revolution also for the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League, with all 342 matches to be experienced exclusively on Sky and NOW thanks to Diretta Gol, starting
from September 25. First però, appointment with the UEFA Super Cup, a Sky Sport exclusive, which on August 14 will see Real Madrid and Atalanta challenge each other for the first trophy of the new season. From European Cups to major domestic and international leagues, Sky Sport’s typical week will be packed with events: the UEFA Champions League opens the week. The hostess è Sky’s lady of Europe Federica Masolin, hosting her Champions League Show on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of the Cup from 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. and, for the first day, also on Thursdays. In the pre-match and post-match studio, champions from the Sky Sports team will analyze the day’s matches while correspondents will be on the fields for interviews and live updates. News from all fields will be provided by Mario Giunta, competition insider with statistics and trivia;. The Cups continue on Thursdays with UEFA Europa League studios (also on Wednesdays in the exclusive week) and UEFA Conference League starting at 8 and 11 p.m. In an ideal line of continuity with respect to the Champions League, also on Thursdays Mario Giunta, for the pre-match and post-match coverage, and Federica Masolin, who will conduct a new column at the close of the European Cups week, will share the conduction: After Party – Best of Europe, the program that in one hour, from 11 pm.30, will reconstruct è everything that è happened in the three days of UEFA Champions, Europe and Conference League, with the comments of those who lived and told for Sky Sport all the emotions of the matches. The story of the championship will pass as always from the studios, which will run through the entire championship day, from Friday evening to Monday night. Here is how and with which studios and faces all the match slots will be manned: Many, then, are the novelties in Sky Sport’s schedule dedicated to Serie A, starting from the’opening of each day, on Friday evening, with a new column that introduces the Italian and international football weekend and delves into all the issues that emerged from the first match of the championship round. It is called Sky Friday Night Football, at 8 and 10:45 p.m., hosted by Giorgia Cenni.

On Saturday and Sunday, new talk shows will accompany subscribers inside Sky’s extraordinary sports offer, not only football. On Saturday, appointment, from 2 to 6 p.m., with La Casa dello Sport Day, together with Mario Giunta; on Sunday, from 12 to 3:30 p.m., Sara Benci will be at the helm of La domenica della Casa dello Sport, will continue with Leo Di Bello and his guests, with Sky Sunday Football until the 6 p.m. match, the great novelty of Sky’s three Serie A matches. Another new column will close the day of the championship, launching the week of the European Cups, with an expanded look at the entire week of Sky sports. It will be called; La Casa dello Sport – Monday Night, Monday at 8 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., the new program hosted by Fabio Tavelli with Rachele Sangiuliano, the world volleyball champion with the Italian national team in 2002, making her debut as host on Sky Sport. Weekend mornings also change: Saturday and Sunday on Sky will open with Buon week end, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., entrusted to the young conduction of Gaia Accoto, Marco Demicheli and Federica Frola.
