Cincinnati, Jannik Sinner advances not without effort with Alex Michelsen
Sinner moves on
Jannik Sinner won in Cincinnati against a hard-selling Alex Michelsen. In the first set, the world No. 1 capitalized to the fullest on the break he recorded in the first game: his not even 20-year-old opponent failed to take advantage of the break points he built up and surrendered 4-6.
In the second game of the second set Sinner nullifies three break points for Michelsen, who does not materialize them, although he plays with personality. After six games it è to 3-3, with Sinner forced to cancel yet another break ball. The South Tyrolean, in the seventh game, in turn saw two break points cancelled by the American, who tried everything but once again, at 4-3, did not take advantage of a break point. In the end Sinner prevailed 7-5.
Jannik Sinner è only the third top ten faced in his career by Alex Michelsen, who previously lost to Zverev and beat De Minaur.
The Masters 1000, which will be staged through Aug. 19 on the concrete courts of the Lindner Family Tennis Center è features a prize pool of $6,795,555.
