Carlos Alcaraz, bitter outburst and accusations after madness on the field
An unrecognizable Carlos Alcaraz è was defeated on his debut at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 by Frenchman Gael Monfils: a Friday to forget for Spanish rival Jannik Sinner, who appeared very nervous and frustrated throughout the match, lost in three sets. The Iberian even broke his racket in a moment of outburst: è the first time this has happened in the ATP circuit, and in the post-match he blamed the particular court conditions.
In the press conference Alcaraz did not hide his bitterness: "It's been the worst match of my career. It was really tough for me. I think it was the worst game I ever played in my career. I could not play".
Alcaraz put the court in his sights: "Playing on Central è a different sport than other courts. I warmed up on Court 5 and it felt like a completely different sport. I don’t know whyé there are courts with different speeds…", are the words reported by Marca
On the broken racket: "It never happened to me before, becauseé I always managed to control myself in certain situations. Most of the time I was able to control myself and got better over the course of the match, but today I couldn’t. È it was frustrating for me, I did not want to be on the field anymore at one point. I wanted to leave the field".
Alcaraz needs to regain control ahead of the US Open: "I have to forget about this match, I have to train well in the next few days".
