Jannik Sinner crosses a major milestone as world number one: thanks to qualifying for the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000, and defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the U.S. tournament opener, the South Tyrolean tennis player will surely remain at the top of the ATP rankings until the end of the Us Open, so at least for another three weeks.

L'Azzurro will thus reach the prestigious milestone of 13 weeks as world number one, surpassing, among others, a legend like Boris Becker, who was at the top of the ranking for 12 weeks in his career. As Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Sinner in recent weeks has also surpassed other former number ones such as Safin, Newcombe, Ferrero,  Kafelnikov, Moya and Rafter.

Having surpassed Becker, now the target è Daniil Medvedev, world number one for 16 weeks, and Mats Wilandes, who came in at 20.

Jannik Sinner, forced to forfeit the Olympics due to tonsillitis, è looking for the best form ahead of the last Slam of the season at Flushing Meadows.
