Indian Wells: Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego stop at the quarters with some regrets

Matteo Berrettini/Lorenzo Sonego-Marcelo Arevalo/Mate Pavic 6-7 4-6
Matteo Berrettini's and Lorenzo Sonego's adventure in the men's doubles tournament at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 stopped in the quarterfinals. The Italian pair è surrendered in two sets to seeding favorites Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic who won with a final score of 7-6 6-4 after an hour and 37 minutes of play.
A few regrets for Berrettini and Sonego especially in the first partial, in which they went down by a break (2-4) due to a mocking tape, and, after recovering (5-5), missed two consecutive set-points in the tie-break before surrendering by 8 points to 6.
In the second set what made the difference è was a single break, scratched by the number one seeded pair in the seventh game thanks to a great response by Arevalo (4-3). The Salvadoran and Croatian held the break advantage until the final 6-4 with which they qualified for the semifinals of the 'BNP Paribas Open'.
That leaves only Jasmine Paolini to represent Italy in the Masters 1000 in California: the Tuscan will challenge Russian Liudmila Samsonova, No. 25 in the WTA rankings, for a place in the quarterfinals.
