Yann Sommer says goodbye to the national team
Through a long message on his Instagram profile, Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer officially announced his decision to leave the Swiss national team, with which he è made it all the way to the quarterfinals at the 2024 European Championships held in Germany.
"Dear Swiss soccer, after careful reflection I have decided to end my career as goalkeeper of the Swiss national team. It has been a great honor and privilege to represent my country at the highest level for 12 years and 94 international matches.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my teammates, the entire staff, the coaches and of course my family, my personal team and the Swiss fans. Without your support and trust in me, these successes would not have been possible. My focus now è all on my club, Inter, with which I still want to win a lot. Thank you, Switzerland!
Yours Yann" this is the message from Yann Sommer.
In the match that opened the new Serie A season, the Nerazzurri Swiss goalkeeper è starred in a penalty parried by Junior Messias, who però put the rebound into the net giving Genoa the final 2-2.
