Disadventure for Jannik Sinner: lost Indian Wells points

Jannik Sinner will lose the points from the Indian Wells tournament last March: è it was the blue tennis player himself who made this known in a statement from his lawyer published on social channels, in which he explained his whole misadventure. "In April, Jannik Sinner è was notified of a positivity for traces of Clostebol metabolites (less than one billionth of a gram)" è the è the incipit of the statement.

"After an extensive and meticulous investigation, ITIA and Sinner discovered that the’inadvertent contamination è was caused by a treatment he received from his physical therapist. His athletic trainer had purchased a product, readily available without a prescription in any Italian pharmacy, which he gave to Jannik’s physical therapist to treat a wound on the same physical therapist’s finger. Jannik knew nothing about it, and the physical therapist did not know that he had used a product containing Clostebol. The physical therapist treated Jannik without gloves and the’having touched some wounds on Sinner’s body caused the contamination".

"Jannik has cooperated fully with the ITIA from the’beginning. The ITIA combats misconduct in sports and doping in particular. Its rules and processes are exceptionally strict and, after forensic investigations and an independent’hearing, the Independent Tribunal decided that Jannik è innocent".

"It è was not his fault. In any case, given the severity of anti-doping rules, he agrees to forfeit the points from the Indian Wells tournament, where the doping test è was staged. Jannik Sinner recognizes the’importance of the severity’of anti-doping rules in protecting the sport he loves".
