Simon Kjaer says goodbye to Denmark
After leaving AC Milan in this market session, Simon Kjaer, through a long message on his Instagram profile, officially announced his farewell from the Danish national team after a good 15 years.
"C'è one last time for everything. I have decided to retire from the Danish national team after 15 fantastic years in the red and white. The timing feels right but I am also a bit sad, because the feeling of togetherness in and around the national team has meant a lot to me and has been such an important part of my whole life .
When I was four years old and started playing soccer, I never dreamed that I would play 132 games with my national team and participate in six World Cups and European Championships. I am very proud of the’enormous privilege of being the captain of the national team for the past eight years.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone, the Federation, the coaches, the staff, my many teammates over the years and especially the fantastic Danish fans for all we have achieved together. È it has always been an honor and a privilege to represent Denmark" these are the words of Simon Kjaer.
The Danish defender è currently untied and would be looking for a new adventure.
