Winston-Salem: Lorenzo Sonego overcomes Pavel Kotov and flies to semifinals
ATP Winston-Salem: Lorenzo Sonego-Pavel Kotov 6-3 7-5
Lorenzo Sonego's adventure at the Winston-Salem ATP continues. On the American cement, in fact, the Italian tennis player defeated in two sets with a score of 6-3 7-5 the Russian Pavel Kotov, thus detaching the pass for the semifinals of the tournament.
In the first set, the two players exchange breaks and counter-breaks respectively. The Italian player managed to place the stretch in the fifth game, as after managing to hold the serve for the first time in the fourth game, he took the lead closing the score on 6-3.
The second partial started uphill for Sonego, who lost his serve in the opening game. Sonego, however, does not flinch and in the fourth game brings the match back to even. After several breaks and counter-breaks, the Turin native manages to keep his turn at bat in the 11th and decisive game, then filing the case at 7-5.
In the semifinals, Lorenzo Sonego will face Belgian David Goffin, who ruled in two sets with a score of 6-1 6-3 over Australian Rinky Hijikata.
