Actual time and Var on call, Gravina ready for revolution
Gravina’s words
Actual game time, electronic communication system between coach and captain, VAR also on call and with the possibility for the referee to justify on the field the decisions taken with the help of technology: these are some of the innovations that Italy would be willing to experiment with in order to project soccer into the future.
This was announced by Federal President Gabriele Gravina, who in recent days has written to the ’IFAB (International Football Association Board) – the international body in charge of changing the rules of soccer – expressing Italy’s willingness to be the ‘forerunner’ in the experimentation.
“We want to make our contribution to improve soccer – said Gravina -in order to make the game more and more attractive and spectacular, especially for young people. We know that the path to’innovation must be shared and then implemented, but if we do not start we will never get to change the status quo”.
The federation also reiterated its opposition to the first few days of the championship being played with the market open, with the understanding that the only way to bring forward the closing of the transfer campaign is to make the FIGC’s position in the UEFA forum a majority one. In order not to penalize the Italian clubs by unilaterally adopting this position, è in fact, it is necessary to find an agreement with the other federations: “Soon – announced the federal president – I will have meetings in UEFA and I will try to involve my colleagues from other federations to undertake a shared path, which can give stability to the start of sports competitions”.
