US Open, Lorenzo Musetti wins marathon match with Miomir Kecmanovic
In the next round he will face Nakashima
At the end of a very complicated match, Mussetti è managed to snatch the pass for the third round of the US Open (last year he è exited in the first round). The Italian won over Kecmanovic in five sets: 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 were the partials of a never-ending match that lasted a full three hours and 50 minutes of play.
After losing the first partial, Musetti redeemed himself and took a 2-1 lead in the set count. In the fourth partial, the Serb è perfect. It goes, then, to the fifth set. The Carrarese gets off to a good start, running away on 2-0 but Kecmanovic recovers. The match turns uphill in Musetti, who is called upon to cancel two match points before serving at 6-5 in his own favor and closing the file 7-5.
Yet another photo finish victory that certifies the moment of great form, both physical and mental, that Musetti, fresh from the bronze medal he won at the Olympics, is experiencing. His path to the US Open continues. In the third round he will face Nakashima, Rune’s executioner.
The Musteti seen in the last period seems capable of playing with anyone. His resilience is becoming a trademark. Incredible when you think that, until recently, it was precisely his lack of competitive nastiness that was his real limitation on the court.
