Charles Leclerc, winning stroke of genius at Monza
Charles Leclerc in triumph
Stunning victory in Monza by Charles Leclerc, who returned to win the Italian Grand Prix thanks to a winning strategy that allowed him to keep behind the two McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, second and third at the finish line.
The Monegasque Ferrari driver opted for a single stop and in the final despite worn tires è managed to contain the comeback of the most quoted rivals, who did not even come close to overtaking him on the track.
Also decisive was the work of Carlos Sainz who, in turn without stopping in the pits again, made the two McLarens lose a few precious seconds, before bringing home an excellent fourth place, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
The Dutchman, the protagonist of an anomalous race but still obviously the world leader, did not è go any further than sixth place, even having his fastest lap taken away from his own title rival Lando Norris, who still further shortened the gap to the top of the standings.
