Luciano De Cecco, first words as captain of Modena
Modena Volleyball, Luciano De Cecco introduces himself
A few weeks before the start of the new season, Modena Volleyball has introduced its new setter, Argentine Luciano De Cecco, who will be given the captain’s stripes immediately. The 1988-born athlete, who has been at Lube for the past four seasons, said he is already pumped up for the new adventure and promised to give his all to achieve important goals in yellow-blacks.
"Living Modena from inside è beautiful – he said during the presentation press conference – just walk into the PalaPanini to breathe the history of our sport. I accept with honor and responsibility the role of captain, I think we have a team with great potential and that can achieve the goals we have given ourselves".
"In these weeks we will begin to understand where we stand and prepare ourselves in the best possible way for the start of the championship,” he added. “Other Argentines in Modena in the past? I have met great players from my countrymen who have been here, I have heard their stories and seen their exploits, è nice to be part of the Argentines who have worn the gialloblù jersey; and I hope to be able to do what they did here".
"Being in Modena è an honor for any player – De Cecco further explained -, as soon as I received the proposal I accepted immediately becauseé to a club like this you cannot say no. With teammates we are already beginning to form a good group, the young people are very keen to get to know us and see us even outside the arena".
Next season will be entirely focused on club activity: "I always said I would leave Argentina after Tokyo,” said Modena’s new captain, who instead went on to Paris 2024, “with some teammates we decided to move on for the good of the team, but for now I am stopping and in 2025 I will not be part of it.”
