Andrea Vavassori and Sara Errani triumphed in mixed doubles at the US Open and wrote another page of Italian tennis history. The blue pair, in fact, ruled hosts Donald Young and Taylor Townsend in two sets with a score of 7-6 7-5, giving Italy its first success in mixed doubles.
The first set è characterized by great balance and the first jolt came in the 11th game, when Errani and Vavassori managed to place the break, winning the chance to serve to win the first partial. However, the American pair did not give up and managed to take the set to the tie-break, which was dominated by the two blues with a clear 7-0.
In the second partial, it was again the two Italians who placed the first stretch in the fourth game and took a 4-1 lead.
