Taremi’s words

The winning goal over Kyrgyzstan was not è enough for Mehdi Taremi, who was insulted by some fans who called him bisharaf, a slur used in Iran to identify those allegedly aligned with the local regime.

"I è was told not to say anything, but bisharaf è a rude word. They can&#39t call us that – the Inter striker vented in a press conference – Other people have plunged the country into this economic situation, not us soccer players, sportsmen, celebrities".

"I know that the economic situation in the country è difficult for everyone. It is not the players who lack honor. We did not ruin Iran, the country we love. I know that the situation è worsened for everyone, that people è under pressure and want to get rid of this anger, but it is not è right for the protest to turn against us. The players are on the side of the people and share the deep grievances".
