Fritz’s words

Taylor Fritz è let loose after his victory in the debry with Frances Tiafoe that è earned him a historic qualification for the Us Open final, where he will face our own Jannik Sinner: "Sì, è it was a crazy match. I think a lot of it was just about managing the moment and the pressure. He was playing at a really high level in the third and fourth sets. It è was just a matter of staying in the match and resisting the great pressure he was putting on me from the back court with which he was pushing me off the court in all shots or taking the ball really really early, changing direction. That è a difficult thing to implement because of the way he was doing it consistently“.

"È it was a matter of trying to hold on for as long as possible, holding my service turn and hoping that at some point his errors would increase a little bit’. Eventually è the match went in that direction, I finally started to understand some of his errors and tried to be moreù aggressive on some balls”.

Fritz didn’t seem worried about facing the world number one, on the contrary: "To be honest I don’t think playing the final will be in a more stressful situation than I was in today. I simply feel good. I have a feeling that I will playò well and win. When I play good tennis, I think the level is high enough to win”.

And again: "È different than’facing the world number one against whom you most likely will not be the favorite. But I think I always played well against Jannik. I think we are on’1-1. È it has been a while’ since we last played but in that case he beat me in three sets in Indian Wells. He è a very strong hitter, but I feel I have always rebounded his shots well. I think I always play well against him".
