The two teams will face each other in the first league

From one Bologna club to the other: the Trapani Shark, promoted to Serie A after winning the A2 Silver playoff final against Fortitudo, will face Virtus in the first game of the top championship, a challenge that already galvanizes the granata patron, Valerio Antonini, a little less than a month away.

"There could not have been a better debut,” Antonini said from the stage of the 21st edition of the Saturno Award, an event being held right in Trapani.

I read that Virtus wants to focus almost exclusively on the Euroleague because they have a multi-year mission, but it will be a very important test of our team".

Antonini’s message to the Black VUs è loud and clear: "We will arrive at the game against Virtus Bologna knowing that all of Italy that follows basketball will be watching us, there's an unprecedented amount of media attention on us and for me, playing against them already on the first day è is a gift that the calendar has given us".

A Trapani club in Serie A had been missing since the 1991/1992 season (at the time it was called Serie A1): at that time it was Pallacanestro Trapani, coached by Giancarlo Sacco, which won 10 out of 30 games in the regular season and 3 out of 10 in the playout, resulting at the end of the year among the six relegated to A2.
