Jannik Sinner continues to rewrite history: new records

Jannik Sinner continues to write tennis history: at 23 years old, he has won two Grand Slam titles and è already landed in the Olympus of the sport&39;s greatest. Sinner è something unique to Italian tennis, but his records are screaming worldwide as well. The tennis player from San Candido è the second youngest player to win the Australian Open and the Us Open in the same season: the first è Jimmy Connors, who succeeded in 1974 at age 22.

Jannik Sinner è the seventh Open era player to win the Australian Open and US Open men’s singles title in the same season after Novak Djokovic (2023, 2015, 2011), Roger Federer (2007, 2006, 2004), Mats Wilander (1988), Jimmy Connors (1974), John Newcombe (1973) and Rod Laver (1969). L'Azzurro è the third youngest player to win in Cincinnati and at the Us Open in the same season after Andy Roddick and John McEnroe.

In 2024 Sinner has so far recorded a 91.6 percent (55-5) winning percentage in ATP matches. Better than him are only Roger Federer (2004, 2005 and 2006) and Novak Djokovic (2011 and 2015).

Jannik Sinner è the first player to win his first two Grand Slams in the same season since Guillermo Vilas, who succeeded; in 1977. Italian records are not counted: è the first Italian to win two Slams in one year, the first to win 16 career tournaments. In 2024 he won 45 of 46 matches with players outside the Top 10.
