Paulo Fonseca in the balance: AC Milan towards ultimatum
Days of reflection, which could prove decisive.
AC Milan soccer: Paulo Fonseca remains at the center of the Rossoneri management's reflections, despite the fact that the league is at a standstill due to the commitments of Italy and other European national teams in the Nations League. In fact, the club’s top brass are far from satisfied with the team’s start in Serie A under the guidance of the Lusitanian coach, whose position remains far from solid.
According to reconstructions by 'SportMediaset', Fonseca could be one step away from the most classic of ultimatums. Decisive in this sense would be Milan’s next match, against Venezia: after the draws with Torino and Lazio and the defeat against Parma, the Rossoneri are called upon to win the clash with a largely affordable rival. If the three points do not come, exoneration could represent more than just an option.
Fonseca’s poised future actually goes against the statements made by Giorgio Furlani, AC Milan’s ad, at the presentation of Tammy Abraham. "We would have preferred to score 9 points in the first three games, but there'è no kind of panic", the Rossoneri executive had declared.
Furlani had also indirectly dwelt on Milan’s next engagement, the one against Venezia. "I would avoid talking about very important matches. We are satisfied with the work done by the coach in preparation, we are supporting him and also the team è with him", had been his words. Yet the climate around Fonseca appears anything but serene.
