Now it's official: Adrian Newey has chosen Aston Martin. Announcing it è was Lawrence Stroll, CEO of the British racing stable, at a press conference at Silverstone: "Adrian Newey will be a new engineer and shareholder of Aston Martin. Adrian è the best in the world at what he does. He's a winner and has the passion and desire in winning, as do the people in this company".
"I am thrilled to join the Aston Martin Aramco team,” Newey remarked. “I have been extremely inspired and impressed by the passion and commitment that Lawrence puts into everything he is involved in. The regulatory change will be announced in January and I will haveó way to join the team from the first days of March, so it will have to bring me up to speed".
"Obviously we would like to have a very good 2025, but for me è it is important initially to work and learn about the team in order to excel,” added the British technician. “I try to work in different ways, solo in front of my board, with the engineers and then going to the races, trying to translate the drivers’ feelings into more engineering terms to improve performance".
"I have known Lance for many years, ever since my son Harry was racing in F3. He dominated the second half of F3. Fernando, we fought against for many years, and at times è he was a bitter enemy. We were very close to him joining Red Bull for the 2009 season, but unfortunately that è did not è happen. È a legend of the sport and I look forward to working with him".
"Changing teams è always difficult – explained the former Red Bull -, and trying to understand how a team works takes time, as well as to integrate. With Red Bull we reached the peak of aerodynamic design, last year's car. This year's were nothing more than an evolution. I needed a challenge, and I found it with Aston Martin".
"I had discussions with several teams, but not with all of them. In the end, I made a natural, very specific and clear choice. I know whyé I decided to continue. I still love challenges and trying to get performance in the car. I no longer have that feeling of pressure of having to prove something to the world, I just want to do my best to get the best results" concluded Newey.
