Goodbye to Didier Roustan
Didier Roustan è has died. The French sports journalist, best known for being the host of Téléfoot in 1984 and in recent years a reporter for L’Équipe du Soir on the L’Équipe channel, è passed away on the night of Tuesday, Sept. 10 to Wednesday, Sept. 11 due to a serious illness, according to L’Équipe.
"A Cannes fan with ties to the Rouge et Blanc, he loved soccer, especially the beautiful game and good stories. He had invented a new TV language around football, full of positive spirit and poetry" said Cannes Mayor David Lisnard on social network X.
During his career, Roustan has worked for numerous media outlets, both in radio and television, such as Europe 1, RTL and Canal+. In addition to sports journalism, Didier Roustan also created the world’s first players’ union. In 1995, he è joined Éric Cantona and Diego Maradona to found the ’International Association of Professional Footballers (AIFP).
A few years later, in 2003, Didier Roustan took a strong stand against racism and violence in soccer. Together with Arsène Wenger, he founded the Foot Citoyen association.
