Empoli also blocks Juventus
Empoli-Juventus 0-0
Empoli and Juventus close their late afternoon match on Saturday at 0-0, remaining unbeaten after four days in Serie A but ending with decidedly opposite moods: for D'Aversa's men è a precious point (which comes after the success against Roma and the draw in Bologna) in the economy of a season in which the Tuscans intend first and foremost to save themselves, those of Thiago Motta, on the other hand, have to deal with an attack still dry after the white-net draw with the Giallorossi two weeks ago.
The tactical canvas, from the first minutes of the match at the 'Castellani', è clear: Juventus tries to attack playing mainly vertically, Empoli instead intends to wait and restart. The result is an unspectacular match, with few thrills in the first half if we exclude a header by Gatti at 36', on the developments of a corner, on which Vasquez is found ready.
In the second half, the script è the same and the score did not change either: Thiago Motta tried to reshuffle the cards by inserting Khephren Thuram, Mbangula, Weah and Fagioli in place of Locatelli, Yildiz, Nico Gonzalez and Douglas Luiz, on the other side D'Aversa responded with Pellegri, Anjorin, Ekong and Haas replacing Colombo, Grassi, Sebastiano Esposito and Henderson.
The two defenses remain però more solid than the two attacks: the last thrill is given by Empoli at the beginning of the recovery, with a conclusion of Maleh that ends just wide to the right of Mattia Perin, but neither this action nor what happens in the five extra laps of hands manage to avoid the 0-0, a score that appears on the scoreboard even after the three whistles of referee Di Bello. Empoli thus rises to 6 points, Juventus moves to 8.
