The Reds were beaten by the Nottingham Forrest

Liverpool, AC Milan’s next opponent in the first day of the Champions League regular season, lost, at home, to Nottingham Forrest (1-0 the final). A defeat that Chiesa witnessed (again) from the bench.

On the eve of the match, it seemed that the former Juventus player, who arrived at the Reds during the summer market (for 12 million euros), could take the field and make his Premier League debut and, instead, Liverpool coach Slot still sent him to the stands. English media speak of a still suboptimal physical condition. This would be the cause for his non-use.

Not called up by Italy for the recent Nations League challenges and still without a single minute on the pitch in a Liverpool jersey, Chiesa is certainly not having an uplifting time. Coach Slot praised him upon his arrival at Liverpool but, at the moment, does not consider him ready.

At this point, it seems unlikely that he can be summoned for the challenge with Milan. Playing at San Siro, in the Champions League, against the Diavolo, a team he has faced so many times throughout his career, represents a dream of the blue striker. A dream that is in danger, seriously, of blowing up. The hope è that Chiesa can soon “see” the field and prove he can be useful to Slot’s Liverpool.
