Davis Cup 2024, final eight draw: Italy with Argentina, Spain hurdle only in final

It will be Argentina the opponent of Italy in the Davis Cup quarterfinals, scheduled Nov. 19-22 in Malaga. In the hypothetical semifinals, then, the Azzurri will face the winner of the match between Australia and the United States.

On the other side of the scoreboard, however, Carlos Alcaraz’s Spain will take on Holland, while Germany will face Canada. The possible confrontation between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, therefore, can only take place in the finals.

There are five previous matches between Italy and Argentina, with the Azzurri leading 3-2. The last challenge between the two national teams was in the 2022 group stage, where Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini won their respective singles matches, rendering the South Americans’ success in the doubles pointless
