ATP 250 Chengdu, Lorenzo Musetti in semifinals
In the quarterfinals of the’ATP 250 on indoor cement in Chengdu, China, Lorenzo Musetti, world number 19, beat Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, number 46, 6-2 5-7 6-2.
The first set was dominated by Musetti, who, after having a break point already in the first game, flew from 0-1 to 5-1 and then closed the partial at the third set point on his own serve.
The second set è much more balanced: the 22-year-old from Carrara cancels two break points in the fourth game, Mannarino one in the next. The decisive break came at 6-5 in Mannarino’s favor and it was the Frenchman who won it, extending the match.
The decisive partial è along the lines of the first one: Musetti from’1-2 strung five consecutive games and won the match after just over two hours and a quarter of play holding serve to zero. In the semifinals Lorenzo will face the surprising Russian Alibek Kachmazov, world number 252.
