ATP Beijing: Mattia Bellucci hits main draw, out go Nardi and Fognini
Mattia Bellucci qualifies for the main draw of the Beijing ATP 500. The Italian, in the decisive round of qualifying, won over Australian Rinky Hijikata with a score of 6-3 6-1, in just over 70 minutes of play, earning him the chance to face Jack Draper in the first round of the tournament.
Nothing to do, however, for Luca Nardi, who can't do anything against Dutchman Botic Van de Zandschulp, who won the challenge 6-2 6-3 in just under 80 minutes of play. In the first round, the Dutchman will find Matteo Berrettini, who è won the last pre-match between the two during the Davis Cup group stage with a score of 3-6 6-4 6-4.
Fabio Fognini also failed to gain access to the main draw as he was defeated in his encounter with Arthur Rinderknech with a score of 3-6 6-2 6-3, after two hours and ten minutes of play. The match è also started in the best way for the Italian, who è immediately ran away in the score on 4-1, then managing to close the set on 6-3. From that moment, however, the San Remo native è dropped in intensity; and the Frenchman took advantage to come back and win the match.
Representing Italy at the Tokyo ATP 500 will be Jannik Sinner (world number one), Lorenzo Musetti, Flavio Cobolli, Lorenzo Sonego, Matteo Arnaldi, Luciano Darderi, Matteo Berrettini and Mattia Bellucci.
