Jannik Sinner replies to Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev
The words of Jannik Sinner
During the press conference ahead of the debut at the Beijing ATP 500, Jannik Sinner, among other topics discussed, commented bluntly on the words issued by Carlos Alcaraz and Alexader Zverev regarding the increasingly busy schedule.
"Alcaraz is right to say that the calendar è too heavy and long, but choices have to be made. There are mandatory tournaments, of course, but every player can still choose where and when to play. It is not è necessary to play necessarily, for example I in the last two years skipped some appointments because Ié wanted to train" began the South Tyrolean.
"Being here è fantastic, è a special tournament and I can't wait to play. There are so many great athletes and the schedule features several big names on the circuit. I am always trying to improve on and off the court and understand myself, understand what works and what doesn't regardless of the results. I know I still have room for growth and this è the most challenging" part,& added Jannik Sinner.
"Somehow they will kill us. At this stage of the season many good tennis players are in danger of losing their tournaments because of injuries. Sometimes it happens that I don’t want to go and play a tournament and I don’t feel motivated at all" these are the words of Carlos Alcaraz after the Laver Cup.
"That of tennis è the longest season in sports, you start at the end of December and end on November 20 with the ATP Finals or even later if you play Davis. There's no time to rest, to prepare physically and mentally. You can't afford not to touch the racket for a month, because you have to go right back to training for the tournaments in Australia.
In other sports there are breaks, we can't take them unless you schedule like Federer or Djokovic. The ATP doesn't care about our opinion, è it's a money affair. We è are not allowed to boycott, because if we don't participate in tournaments they fine us. We don’t want mandatory tournaments, forò if you want to be number one in the world and win you have to play, if one stops the rest of the circuit goes on. We can’t say that the ATP Finals are played after the Us Open and tournaments like Bercy, Stockholm and Chengdu are no longer done. They have a license and so you can’t cancel" this, however, Alexander Zverev’s harsh outburst.
